Tsampa (Barley) flour is a very important source of food in the Himalayan belt, it gives a good amount of energy and fills up your stomach. In earlier times most of the people in Ladakh use to consume barley flour for meals and also along with tea and local beer. This Tsampa pot is for storing barley flour.
This is very old tsampa box made of apricot wood. As you can see from the looks and condition of the box that it has been well used and still in great condition.
