Gau is a what we call a travelling shrine. Earlier when people travelled long route on horse, they used to carry their own Gaus to protect themselves from natural calamities, dacoits and overall for a safe journey. These Gaus were blessed by a Rimpoches (high priest) and oracles, so people believed the blessing from Rimpoches will guide them and keep them safe through their journey. This is a very old Gau, high quality work done and its in perfect condition.
