This is a dagger; in Ladakhi, it’s called a Phurpa. It is used in prayers by monks to nail down the evil. It also kills ignorance. It is said it possesses magical power and it’s a powerful ritual artefact that keeps diseases and evil spirits at bay. It is also used in the mask dance.
