This is a dagger; in Ladakhi it’s called a Phurpa. It is used in prayers by monks to nail down the evil. It also kills ignorance. It is said it possess magic power and it’s a powerful ritual artefact that keeps diseases and evil spirits at bay. It is also used by monks while doing the mask dance.
